She has a dry sense of humor and loves to turn things upside down: victims become protagonists\, and terrifying monsters turn into creatures worthy of love. Her work is sometimes described as raw and unfiltered\, like dirt under the fingernails—it clings and lingers. Irina regularly performs and hosts at Mezrab\, as well as at other storytelling venues and festivals throughout the Netherlands. Last year she performed at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival with “Coo d’Etat: The Pigeon Uprising” (a show about one pigeon who’d had enough). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Your Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n PhoneThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Ticket(s) for\n \n \n Asylum Seekers’ Center Residents\n \n \n \n Locals\n Number of people joining12345678910Which date(s) would you like to attend?(Required)Over the course of the four sessions\, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your story and share it at Connection Café events.\n \n October 4\n \n \n October 11\n \n \n October 18\n \n \n October 25\n Tickets\n \n \n Price:\n 0\,00 €\n \n \n \n NameEmail address(Required)\n \n Total\n \n \n Register

SUMMARY:Own Your Story\, Own the Room
DESCRIPTION:Your job title tells people what you do. Your resume tells people where you’ve worked. \n\n\n\nBut neither of them tells us what shaped you. \n\n\n\nThe risk you took. The failure that changed the course of your life. The conversation you still carry with you. The moment you chose to start over. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Own Your Story\, Own the Room” is a dynamic storytelling event for professionals who want to grow and go beyond polished introductions\, and connect through the experiences that have shaped who we are. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by Sangbreeta Moitra—a two-time TEDx speaker and Dutch and European public-speaking champion—the evening features stand-up comedy about work and life\, powerful stories from leaders\, an interactive Story Lab to help you shape your own story\, and an open mic invitation if you’re ready to share. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome for the laughter\, music\, drinks\, and shared snacks. Leave with stories that stay with you\, a story of your own to tell\, and connections that go beyond “So\, what do you do?”

SUMMARY:An Evening of Dining with Chef Sami Tamimi
DESCRIPTION:Mouneh | Preserving Palestinian Flavors\n\n\n\nA special dinner event with Chef Sami Tamimi\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSAVE THE DATE!\n\n\n\nA Beautiful Mess is hosting a special dinner event featuring renowned chef Sami Tamimi. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by the tradition of Mouneh (المونة) from the Al Sham region—the historical region that includes present-day Palestine\, Jordan\, Lebanon\, and Syria—the evening celebrates the art of cooking from the pantry: using\, ingredients that have been preserved at the height of the season through drying\, fermenting\, pickling\, curing\, and storing in oil. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLong before refrigeration and year-round supermarkets\, families across the Al Sham region stocked their pantries after each harvest to ensure they had nutritious food throughout the year. This tradition\, known as Mouneh\, was not simply about preserving ingredients—it was about preserving knowledge\, family recipes\, hospitality\, and memories. Preparing Mouneh was a communal ritual that brought generations together around food. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nToday\, this tradition resonates strongly with contemporary ideas about seasonal cooking\, sustainability\, reducing food waste\, and reconnecting with local food cultures. While Mouneh is deeply rooted in the culinary traditions of the Al Sham region\, the concept of cooking from a well-stocked pantry is universal\, making it an accessible and inspiring story for a wide audience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore details and tickets coming soon. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Dinner Experience\n\n\n\nThroughout the evening\, Chef Sami Tamimi will guide guests through a menu centered on pantry staples and the traditions of Mouneh. Each course will highlight preserved flavors and seasonal ingredients while sharing the stories behind them. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuests will discover: \n\n\n\n\nPreserved ingredients and traditional preservation techniques;\n\n\n\nThe relationship between food\, the seasons\, and the land;\n\n\n\nStories of family traditions\, heritage\, and migration;\n\n\n\nHow Pantry Cooking Remains Relevant in Today’s Kitchens.\n\n\n\n\nThrough Sami’s perspective\, the evening builds a bridge between the culinary traditions of the Al Sham region and Amsterdam’s diverse audience\, demonstrating how food preservation connects cultures around the world. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Chef Sami Tamimi\n\n\n\nChef Sami Tamimi is a Palestinian chef\, restaurateur\, and cookbook author known for sharing the flavors and stories of Palestinian cuisine and the broader culinary traditions of the Al Sham region with audiences around the world. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBorn in East Jerusalem\, Sami’s cooking is deeply rooted in the traditions of his homeland\, combining authentic flavors with a contemporary approach to hospitality.
