During Refugee Welcome Week 2026, A Beautiful Mess hosts Welcome to the AZC, a theater performance that invites audiences to reflect on the realities, challenges, and human stories behind life in asylum reception centers.
At a time when AZCs are once again at the center of public debate in the Netherlands, this performance offers a different perspective-one rooted in lived experience, dialogue, and connection. Through theater, we create space for meaningful conversations about belonging, resilience, and the people behind the headlines.
This event is part of Refugee Welcome Week NL 2026, a refugee-led program that brings together young refugees and newcomers across four Dutch cities. Throughout the week, participants take the lead as performers, curators, hosts, producers, and storytellers, creating opportunities for connection through art, discussion, film, music, food, and community action.
Refugee Welcome Week NL is part of the international Refugee Week movement and is organized in close partnership with Refugee Week UK.
