Welcome to A Beautiful Mess Kabelweg. In June 2025, we opened a Community Café in the new shelter for asylum seekers at Kabelweg in Amsterdam West. A meeting place for residents, local residents and businesses in the area. You are welcome for a good cup of coffee, a pleasant chat, or join in one of our activities. Everyone is welcome! It is a nice and safe place where we work with many different organizations to build a community where everyone can be a part of. A place where people with a refugee background can make new friends and step by step get their lives in the Netherlands on track.

Community cafe

Our Community Café is a safe and inclusive place, where different people and organizations work together to build a community that everyone can be a part of.
We offer, among other things:

A welcoming space with complimentary delicious barista coffee & tea
Language courses: Dutch and English conversation
Workshops on living and working in the Netherlands (in Dutch, English, Arabic or Tigrinya)
Barista training
Dance Workshops

Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to support so we can host more workshops for residents. Think digital skills, making beautiful cappuccinos or creative workshops. And residents would like to improve their Dutch or English and converse with a volunteer.

Monthly community lunch

Every month we host Community Lunches. A culinary gathering, where residents of the center on Kabelweg prepare dishes from different cultures. And where we all enjoy a delicious lunch together at a long table, can chat and learn from each other’s cultures.
