Full-time employment (possible in four days)

With us you will work in a vibrant restaurant on the Oosterdok, together with a kitchen team that focuses on people with refugee backgrounds.

You guide them in their development towards paid employment, while together you serve delicious, freshly prepared dishes from the countries our colleagues come from.

What to expect:

  • A work week of 38 hours, flexible to be divided over 4 or 5 days
  • Salary negotiable depending on experience
  • Less workload than in most Western kitchens
  • A role in which guiding is as important as cooking

Who we are.

We are a social enterprise where people with and without refugee backgrounds work together to prepare and serve delicious dishes.

Our new location on the Oosterdokskade offers breathtaking views of the IJ River and houses a restaurant, a separate kitchen for cooking workshops and an event space.

What will you do?

  • Lead the kitchen team and report to the Head Chef.
  • Ensure HACCP records and procedures.
  • Standardize preparation techniques and kitchen layout.
  • Responsible for purchasing and inventory management.
  • Plan and execute mise en place operations.
  • Maintain good communication between kitchen and service.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience as a Sous Chef or similar leadership position in the kitchen.
  • Excellent knowledge of HACCP rules.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and a positive, coaching attitude.
  • A heart for the mission of a Beautiful Mess.
