about Iraqi chicken

The first (known) recipe ever written down is more than 4,000 years old and comes from Mesopotamia. Modern-day Iraq was a large part of this region, known for its cultural diversity. This rich history makes Iraqi cuisine one of the most versatile in the world.

For our Iraqi chicken, we use a blend of many spices, a rich and flavorful way to prepare chicken. We serve it with Shata, a sauce made of lemon, basil and green pepper. The flavor of the chicken combines perfectly with this sweet (basil), sour and spicy sauce.

How do you make it?

  1. Mix the spices with the salt, honey,
garlic, lemon juice and sunflower oil
  2. Let it marinate for at least half an hour
  3. Fry the chicken in a hot skillet until golden brown and cooked
    Shata
  4. Blend into a sauce in food processor
